MANAGEMENT & OPERATIONS

UNCOMPROMISED LEADERSHIP

Management & Operations faculty focus on three important areas: the design and delivery of innovative and action-oriented curricula that develop students into ethical global leaders; the involvement in and publication of high-level, impactful scholarship that is recognized in the top research and applied journals in the world; and the support of the students, college, and other stakeholders through meaningful service and leadership roles.

Multi-Disciplinary Curriculum

Reflecting the direction of business, the Management & Operations at VSB routinely develops courses that blend disciplines and employ team-teaching pedagogical approaches. Ten years ago, we developed our first course jointly taught by management and marketing faculty and we have embraced this cross-disciplinary model ever since.

Management & Operations faculty also focus on the relevance of the curriculum in today鈥檚 business environment by incorporating real-world challenges and experiences. In one required course, students must organize themselves into companies, establish a leadership hierarchy, develop plans for new products or services, and present their business plans before a panel of executives from top companies. Management & Operations faculty members strive to teach students the tools for effective teamwork, leadership, organizational dynamics, organizational culture, strategic planning, change management and human resource management.

Statement on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

The academic fields of strategic management, operations management, organizational behavior, human resource management, international business, entrepreneurship, and analytics work to provide thought leadership and actionable solutions to organizations regarding a range of topics through research and teaching. One major focal point across these academic fields in recent years has been in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Managers and organizations must be willing to 1) become aware; 2) examine the impact; and 3) work toward ameliorating the negative effects of their explicit and implicit biases as well as systemic bias in order to remain competitive in today鈥檚 global and diverse marketplace.

无码专区, as a Catholic Augustinian institution of higher education, recognizes diversity as an integral component of the teaching and learning experience and as an essential element of the ongoing intellectual, social and spiritual development of every member of the 无码专区 community.

The Department of Management and Operations appreciates, welcomes, and celebrates diversity in our students, faculty, staff, and visitors. We strive to create an inclusive and collegial community built upon mutual respect and genuine curiosity about different viewpoints. We recognize and value the perspectives of individuals from diverse races, cultures, faiths, genders, abilities, orientations, identities, socioeconomic groups, and other backgrounds. We seek to remove cultural and systemic barriers to full representation of, and participation by, people from underrepresented groups, particularly in the highest ranks of our faculty. We recognize that our actions at the Departmental level have an impact on the values and culture of the 无码专区 School of Business, 无码专区, and society more broadly. As such, we prioritize creating an environment of equity, care, respect, and community within the department.
