Sustainable Materials Management & Resource Recovery
无码专区 began its recycling program in 1990. Since the beginning of the program, we have recycled over 62 million pounds of material. Aside from recycling, we also provide additional programs to divert waste from landfill and incineration, recirculating value to feed a circular economy. Through composting or aerobic digestion of organic waste, reuse and donation of surplus assets, and many other specialty recycling programs, we aim to foster a culture of circularity in line with our Augustinian values of caring for the common good.
Put Waste In Its Place:
To help our community understand their role as consumers when items and materials reach the end of their useful life, we have launched a search engine to provide recycling, composting, and reuse guidance for hundreds of different materials. For more information, please visit our Waste & Recycling website or email: recycling@villanova.edu
Some additional waste diversion programs at VU:
Furniture Reuse
When possible, our designers choose products that contain recycled, and many times recyclable, materials. New products with recycled content are entering the market every day and our staff works to keep themselves informed of these changes. In addition to choosing new products that contain recycled material, usable unwanted office furniture is saved and stored on campus and is made available to anyone interested in remodeling their office space on a tight budget.
Student Move Out
At the end of each semester, we provide donation bins for unwanted non-perishable food, clothing, school & office supplies, household goods and many other items. Items are sorted by members of the 无码专区 community and given to local charities.
Construction Waste
University construction waste counts for a lot of the waste we generate. Starting in 2013 we now send that waste to , a company dedicated to the proper disposal and recycling of construction debris such as wood, metal, plastic, concrete, able to divert 85% of the materials collected from landfill or incineration.
Composting
We currently offer organic waste collection for students living in on-campus apartments, and select offices across campus. Bins are provided to those who opt-in to participate in this program. If you are interested in participating, please email recycling@villanova.edu
