One Book ÎÞÂëרÇø History
One Book ÎÞÂëרÇø is a campus-wide effort spanning the academic year that presents to the university a book worthy of close reading, discussion, course adoption, and the stimulation of dialog among all members of the campus community. The One Book ÎÞÂëרÇø Committee comprises of faculty, staff and students from across the University who make each year’s selection from a list of nominated books.
The nomination form is open to all members of the University community – faculty, staff, students, parents, alumni - and can be found on the One Book ÎÞÂëרÇø program’s website.
The One Book ÎÞÂëרÇø program is unique as it is a community reading program, not simply a first-year student initiative. Many University offices and academic departments – including Facilities Management, Dining Services, Student Life to name a few - purchase copies for their staff and faculty. Furthermore, local community book clubs have also joined in and have affiliated themselves with the program. The One Book ÎÞÂëרÇø has garnered a reputation among publishers as one of the premier college and university readings programs in the country.
