Fitzpatrick College of Nursing Welcomes Four Talented Faculty

Dr. Heather Brom

Heather Brom, PhD, RN, NP-C, named the inaugural Eastwood Family Endowed Assistant Professor, joined the College in August 2020 and is teaching acute care medical-surgical subjects.  Dr. Brom was most recently a postdoctoral research fellow at the Center for Health Outcomes and Policy Research  at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing focusing on advanced training in nursing outcomes research and an associate fellow at the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics at Penn. In addition to a great depth of experience in oncology nursing, she earned a BS in psychology, an MSN as a family nurse practitioner and a PhD in nursing from The Ohio State University.   

Dr. Gail Furman

 

Gail E. Furman, EdD, MSN, RN joined the faculty in July 2020 as clinical professor and executive director of the Simulation and Learning Center. Most recently, she served as the National Board of Medical Examiners鈥 Director of Educational Design and Development and adjunct professor in the Department of Family, Community and Preventative Medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine. Dr. Furman has numerous publications and presentations focusing on simulation and clinical teaching topics. She received her BSN, MSN and EdD from Saint Louis University School of Nursing in Missouri. 

Dr. Cathy Lovecchio

Catherine P. Lovecchio 鈥85 BSN, 鈥08 PhD, RN began her role as associate dean for Undergraduate Programs in June 2020. She brings more than 25 years of experience in higher education and most recently served as chairperson of the Department of Nursing at the University of Scranton where she also taught and directed programs. Dr. Lovecchio was the director of the Center for Health and Wellness Education at Scranton, as well as at 无码专区 where she was the founding director. She has published and presented on a clinical nurse liaison model and alcohol education for college students. She received her BSN and PhD in nursing at 无码专区 and her master of science in adult health and nursing education from College Misericordia in Dallas, Pa. 

Dr. Guy Weissinger

Guy M. Weissinger II, BSN, MPhil, PhD, RN, assistant professor, joined the faculty in August 2020. His research focuses on using patient-centered approaches to understand and improve the health of people who experience mental illness. He has teaching experience in mental health, public health and community nursing; psychological and social factors in health and wellness; and social determinants of health. Dr. Weissinger completed his postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Family Intervention Science at Drexel University. He earned a BA from Rice University and a BSN, MSEd in counseling and psychological services, MPhil in professional counseling, and PhD in nursing science from the University of Pennsylvania.
