Safety Services

Health and Safety

无码专区's Department of Environmental Health and Safety provides a wide variety of services to our campus community. Please reference the categories of information listed below or in the subsections to the left for more information regarding our available services and programs.

Job Safety Analysis

A job safety analysis (JSA) is a procedure which helps integrate accepted safety and health principles and practices into a particular task or job. In a JSA, each basic step of the job is analyzed to identify potential hazards and to recommend procedures or techniques to avoid or minimize the hazard.

Radiation Safety

The Radiation Safety Program provides guidance and oversight to users of radiation producing devices and radioactive materials on campus to assure safety and compliance with applicable federal and state regulations.

Lab Safety

无码专区 is committed to the safety of every student, faculty and staff member working in our laboratories, as well as the protection of our environment through safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials.

Pest Control

无码专区 utilizes an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) philosophy to control pests while reducing exposure to pesticides. IPM is a process for achieving long term, environmentally sound pest suppression using a wide variety of technological and management practices.

Biosafety

无码专区鈥檚 biosafety program addresses the safe handling and containment of infectious microorganisms and hazardous biological materials.  The program is implemented via the Institutional Biosafety Committee and focuses on microbiological practices, safety equipment, and facility safeguards to protect laboratory workers, the environment, and the public from exposure to infectious microorganisms that are handled and stored in the laboratory.  The bloodborne pathogen program is included as part of the biosafety program.

Waste Management

There are many types of waste generated on the 无码专区 campus: recyclables, trash, food waste, specialty waste such as chemicals, medical/biological waste, etc.  Each waste type must be handled properly to protect the environment and comply with federal, state, and local environmental laws.
