Dr. Moeness Amin Elected Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology

Dr. Moeness Amin, Professor and Director of the Center for Advanced Communications, kicked off the New Year by marking a prestigious professional milestone -- being elected Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), one of the world鈥檚 leading professional societies for the engineering and technology community, with more than 150,000 members in 127 countries.

A distinction awarded to members of the society who have demonstrated superior individual responsibility, sustained achievement, and significant professionalism during their career, Fellows of the IET personify the organization鈥檚 mission to provide a global knowledge network to facilitate the exchange of ideas and promote the positive role of science, engineering, and technology in the world.

鈥淚 am honored to be selected to join this prestigious group of leaders in engineering from the industry and academia communities -- all of whom have made a significant, positive impact on our field,鈥 says Dr. Amin, who is also a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (since 2001) and a Fellow of the International Society of Optical Engineering (since 2007).

For selection, Dr. Amin was judged by the Fellow Evaluation Committee to have demonstrated clear success over an extended period in the areas of personal responsibility for significant technological innovation and original research resulting in international recognition. The author of more than 450 journal and conference publications, with more than 2,200 citations, Dr. Amin is a globally renowned expert in the areas of digital signal and array signal processing, smart antennas, time-frequency analysis, and radar imaging (including the emerging areas of through-the-wall radar imaging and compressive sensing). Under his direction, the CAC and its world class facilities and researchers have also gained international recognition from academic, industry, and defense organizations.
