无码专区 Engineering Professor Elected to International Scientific Organization

Dr. Amy Fleischer
Professor Amy Fleischer, PhD.

无码专区 Professor Amy Fleischer, PhD, Department of Mechanical Engineering, has been elected to the Scientific Council of the International Centre for Heat and Mass Transfer (), one of the world鈥檚 leading scientific organizations for heat and mass transfer research. The first woman to be named full professor in 无码专区鈥檚 College of Engineering, Dr. Fleischer is internationally recognized for her expertise in thermal fluid systems design.

Director of The 无码专区 Thermal Management Laboratory (), Dr. Fleischer focuses much of her research on nanostructured energy storage materials. As an active member of 无码专区鈥檚 Center for Energy-Smart Electronic Systems (ES2), she also conducts research in the areas of sustainable energy systems design and thermal management of electronic systems. Her work on 鈥淒ata Center Waste Energy Recovery and Re-Use鈥 with Gerard Jones, PhD, Senior Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and Research, was selected for inclusion in the 2014 Compendium of Industry-Nominated Technology Breakthroughs.

In addition to her research, Dr. Fleischer is a highly regarded professor who teaches courses in thermal fluid systems design, thermal management of electronics, and conduction heat transfer. Chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering鈥檚 graduate program, Dr. Fleischer is recognized as a mentor and advocate for women in engineering.

As a member of the ICHMT, Dr. Fleischer will be involved with the executive committee, which is the key operating body of the Centre. Members of the Scientific Council also work with the Centre鈥檚 other major committees, and often are the active organizers who recommend and lead symposia supported by the Centre. Dr. Fleischer expressed her pleasure at having been selected as an ICHMT member, 鈥淚 am honored to have been elected by my peers to such a prestigious council and I look forward to working with my colleagues from around the world to advance the state-of-the-art in heat and mass transfer research.鈥

The ICHMT generally organizes and conducts at least two specialist symposia on Heat and Mass Transfer each year, and co-sponsors meetings with other organizations throughout the world. The Scientific Council meets every four years prior to the opening of the quadrennial International Heat Transfer Conferences, IHTC. The next meeting, IHTC-15, will be held in Kyoto, Japan, August 10鈥16, 2014.
