Dr. Sergey Nersesov Publishes Stability and Control of Large-Scale Dynamical Systems: A Vector Dissipative Systems Approach

Dr. Sergey G. Nersesov, Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering, has co-authored a new book entitled Stability and Control of Large-Scale Dynamical Systems: A Vector Dissipative Systems Approach, published by the Princeton University Press.

The book examines the complexities of large-scale dynamical systems which exist in virtually every aspect of science and engineering and are associated with a wide variety of physical, technological, environmental, and social phenomena, including aerospace, power, communications, and network systems, among others.

Dr. Nersesov and co-author Dr. Wassim M. Haddad, Professor of Aerospace Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, develop a general stability analysis and control design framework for nonlinear large-scale interconnected dynamical systems and present the most complete treatment on vector Lyapunov function methods, vector dissipativity theory, and decentralized control architectures.

Topics discussed include:

  • A complete treatment on vector Lyapunov function methods
  • A view into the vector dissipativity theory
  • A discussion on decentralized control architectures including cooperative control
  • A look into continuous-time, discrete-time, and hybrid large-scale systems
  • Development of finite-time stability theory and finite-time decentralized control
  • Development of thermodynamic modeling of large-scale dynamical systems and entropy- and energy-based decentralized control techniques
