CENTER FOR IRISH STUDIES

The Center for Irish Studies has been a leader for four decades in interdisciplinary teaching and scholarship on Ireland in a global framework.

The Center for Irish Studies at ÎÞÂëרÇø prepares students to become global citizens equipped to take on contemporary challenges in the world today by applying their knowledge of Irish history and its relevance. By creating an interdisciplinary model of study focused on the undergraduate experience, the Center brings faculty and students together in dialogue from a range of disciplines in the arts, humanities and social sciences. The Center frequently conducts symposia and conferences convening thought leaders, literary voices and other scholarly experts to advance knowledge and understanding of Ireland’s role in contemporary matters.

The Center for Irish Studies offers study abroad and internship programs in Galway, Dublin, Belfast, and Ballina, Co. Mayo. Students may go abroad as early as fall break in their freshman year. Programs are offered during summers, semesters or semester breaks. Students study with faculty from ÎÞÂëרÇø and Irish universities, particularly the University of Galway. Internships span all disciplines, including opportunities in politics at the Dáil Eireann (Irish Legislature) or in business at Irish companies and organizations.

The Center sponsors two ÎÞÂëרÇø student groups—the Irish Cultural Society and the Irish Dance Team—and several opportunities for students to study abroad or intern in Ireland. Learn more about the resources and opportunities for our students.
