NovaCell Researchers Well-Represented at Professional Conferences

NovaCell faculty and graduate students have been busy in 2023 participating in a variety of professional conferences.

Laura Bracaglia, PhD, assistant professor of Chemical and Biological Engineering, attended the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society (TERMIS) annual conference in April. In October, she attended the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) annual meeting in Seattle with two PhD students, Valerie Lallo and Jianlei (Jay) Wu, who presented posters on effecting drug delivery to endothelial cells using nanoparticles.

Eric Warga and Jared Anderson, PhD students working with Associate Professor Jacob Elmer, PhD, both presented posters at the 2023 American Society for Gene and Cell Therapy (ASGCT) national conference in Los Angeles. Eric presented on his work with Bristol Myers Squibb studying the T-cell response to lentiviral transduction, while Jared presented his work on purifying transgenes from host cells.

Jens Karlsson, PhD, associate professor of Mechanical Engineering, gave an oral presentation for the 60th annual meeting of the Society for Cryobiology held in Minneapolis in July titled 鈥淓ffect of Nonpenetrating Cryoprotectant Agents on Intracellular Ice Formation in T Cells.鈥

NovaCell Director William Kelly, PhD, attended the American Chemical Society annual meeting in August in San Francisco, where he chaired a session on Cell Therapy Manufacturing and presented a research talk, 鈥淯se of a Novel Fusion Protein for CAR T-Cell Purification.鈥
