HONORS PROGRAM: FITZPATRICK COLLEGE OF NURSING

Each year, 10% of incoming Fitzpatrick College of Nursing students are selected to the University鈥檚 Honors Program. 

Ten Honors courses are required to earn a Nursing Honors degree. For the Class of 2027 & beyond, at least 15 credits must be taken within the College of Nursing.
 

  • NUR 1104 (H): Intro to Professional Nursing Practice
  • NUR 2108 (H): Pathophysiology
  • NUR 3122 (H): Imperatives for Global and Public Health
  • NUR 3810 (H): Research & Scholarship in Nursing Practice
  • NUR 4119 (H): Nursing Leadership & Health Policy
  • NUR 4200 (H): Nursing Scholars Seminar
  • Ancients & Moderns (ACS 1000/1001)
  • Faith, Reason & Culture (THL 1000)
  • Knowledge, Reality, Self (PHL 1000)
  • General Psychology (PSY 1000)
  • Lit & Writing Seminar (Eng 1975)
  • Shaping an Adult Life (Upper-Level Theology) (HON 4800-001)


In addition to completing all course requirements, students must  achieve a minimum 3.33 cumulative GPA to earn the Bachelor of  Science in Nursing, Honors.

Intellectual Engagement

Honors Nursing students take the Honors section of NUR 2108-H Pathophysiology during their sophomore year followed by NUR 3122-H Imperatives of Global and Public Health during their junior year. During senior year, Honors students take NUR 4119-H, Leadership Practicum. Additionally, students have the option to complete an Honors Thesis, engaging in undergraduate research, during their senior year.
