A Tibetan scholar shared wisdom and ritual through a Medicine Buddha mandala
The Venerable Lama Losang Samten, an internationally renowned Tibetan scholar and former Buddhist monk, spent a week creating a Medicine Buddha mandala in Driscoll Hall this fall. The intricately designed sand mandala, used in meditation and in rituals, represents the healing power of wisdom and compassion.
Throughout the week, the Ven. Samten engaged with faculty, students and staff to provide insight into the mandala鈥檚 design and symbolism. At the end of his visit, he led a dissolution ceremony, sweeping away the sand and releasing it into a stream on West Campus.
