Dr. Yimin Zhang Elected Senior Member of SPIE

Dr. Yimin Zhang, Research Professor and Director of the Wireless Communications and Positioning Laboratory, part of the Center for Advanced Communications (CAC), has been elected to the grade of Senior Member of the International Society of Optics and Photonics (SPIE). He is the third CAC researcher to be named a SPIE Senior Member. Dr. Moeness Amin, CAC Director, and Dr. Fauzia Ahmad, Research Associate Professor and Director of the Radar Imaging Lab, have also been honored with the title. SPIE Senior Members are members of distinction, recognized for their professional experience, active involvement with the optics community and contributions to the Society. The performance of these members sets them apart from their peers.

Dr. Zhang has received recognition for distinguished achievements in signal processing for radar systems and wireless communications. He has been actively involved in SPIE as an author, session chair and committee member for the Society鈥檚 Wireless Sensing, Localization and Processing conference. Dr. Zhang and Dr. Amin were recently awarded $1.2 million in research grants from the Department of Defense for their work in radar signal processing.
