VUnited Summer Scholars is a weeklong camp where students can get a glimpse of the college experience. Living on ÎÞÂëרÇø’s campus for seven days, these students will: work on life skills, explore their career, make meaningful connections, engage in community service, balance work with free time and practice speaking in front of others.

Our students will room in ÎÞÂëרÇø’s dorms with supervision from mentors, ensuring a safe and supportive environment. Throughout the week, students will participate in structured fitness and wellness activities, dine in campus dining halls and engage in hands-on learning experiences that promote safety and good judgment. This program is designed to help young adults with disabilities ages 18-22 learn what it means to transition to independence. Learning Goals:

Throughout the experience, students will engage in the following learning goals, in alignment with VUnited Scholars program curriculum:

• Cultivate meaningful independent living experiences on a college campus.

• Develop adaptive living skills through an immersive on-campus experience, living and learning in a traditional college environment.

• Participate in structured, supervised activities focused on fitness, wellness, and making healthy lifestyle choices.Ìý

• Dine in campus dining halls and build campus life confidence and social skills through peer-to-peer interactions.

• Learn and apply principles of safety and good judgment through hands-on activities and constructive, real-world interactions

• Refine public speaking and presentation skills by preparing and delivering a group presentation.

• Serve the wider community through a service-learning opportunity.Ìý

• Engage in an exciting and enriching trip to explore Philadelphia for an immersive learning experience.
